Dance Classes & Hip Hop Dance Teams

 

Dance Classes:

The following classes are offered in the summer & fall:

Jazz/Hip Hop Age 5-8: The fundamentals of jazz and hip hop will be introduced in this class.  Leaps, turns, & basic jazz & hip  hop movements and skills will be established.  One will learn how to pick up choreography and perform in the year end recital.
 
Jazz/Technique Age 9 and up:
The fundamentals of Jazz are worked on in this class.  Leaps, Pirouettes, floor combination's, & choreography is introduced in each class at the level of each particular class.  We offer 4 levels of jazz class to help each student move along to their fullest potential.  Each child is tested into their correct jazz level.  Each Jazz class performs in the year end recital.

The following classes will be offered again in the fall.

Dance Combo age 3-5:  Ballet, Tap, & Jazz 45 minute class Creative movement will be used to introduce students to the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz.  Light stretching will be applied to develop flexibility.  Props are sometimes utilized to provide interest and variety, as well as song and dance.  Proper tap and ballet shoes are needed by each student. This class will perform 1 dance subject in the year end recital.

 
Ballet/Tap Age 9-11: The fundamentals of ballet will be established utilizing basic/intermediate ballet skills at the barre and in the center of the floor.  Some flexibility work will be done as well.  Exercises in the ballet portion of the class will be to develop intermediate understanding of foot and arm positions, technique,and choreography.  The tap portion of the class will establish the fundamentals of tap dancing, focusing on rhythm, sound, and temp. This class will perform both subjects in the year end recital.
 
 
Ballet/Lyrical Age 11-18: The fundamentals of ballet and lyrical are taught in this class.  Barre, across floor, & Center will be covered in this class.  Leaps, Pirouettes, & more intermediate-advanced ballet/lyrical combination's and skills will be introduced. This class will perform in the year end recital.

 

Dance Champions Hip Hop Dance Team:

 Dance Champions is a hip hop competitive dance team for ages 6 and up.  We have mini, youth, and junior teams.  We compete at local competitions from September-May.   Fund raising is made available to help cut the cost for competition fees!  A discount is given to those who do both cheer and dance all stars!  You must audition by your age as of August 31, 2010. If you wish to do crossovers, you must attend the older age bracket audition.  Coaches will make the decision on cross-over students at tryouts.  Teams will be announced online in May.  Teams will begin meeting for practice the first week of June.
